Guest Blog: 12 Creative Home Booking Ideas

All of these ideas are “out of the box” ways to book a home show. They all take a little pre-planning but I have found that themed monthly ideas go a long way in asking someone to host a show and getting a YES!

January – Hold your own New Year’s Day show and shopping extravaganza for past hostesses. This is a great time to discount last year’s stock and pass the savings onto them. When they re-book a show for the new year, reward them with a FREE item of their choice that you present the day of their show.

February – Ask a neighbor to host a Tailgating Super bowl party for the neighbors and all the wives on the block.

March – Call up 1 or 2 Irish friends and ask them to host a St. Patrick’s Day show. Theme your show “GREEN” and reward bookings with gold coins!

April – Call another Direct Sales representative and swap a show with them this month.

May – Mother’s Day. Reward ANY of your favorite moms by asking her to host a show for you…Make a special handmade item for the host this month in addition to their hostess rewards.

June – School’s out! Ask one of your child’s teachers to host a show and reward her for being such a great teacher.

July – Hold an impromptu show while on vacation in the campground! Invite all neighbors and campers that you see and show off your product line! Raffle off the hostess dollars to those who purchase from you!

August – Start a hostess club. Because most direct sales lines put out catalogs this month, start a hostess club. Take the amount needed for a show in your line, divide by ten, and come up with a set total each guest needs to spend. For example, $150 is the first amount I need to create a qualifying show. That way, ten guests would need to spend $15 per month for ten months. Each month, one of the guests automatically gets the hostess credit along with their order.

Host a backyard Tea for your top 3 hostesses up to this point! Ask them to bring a friend along to the tea and give each an extra small gift for booking a show at the tea.

September – Make friends with the new kids! Find out who the new parents are in school, introduce yourself, and ask them if they would like a “welcome to the neighborhood” party!!

October
– Halloween themed parties! There is always at least 1 friend of ours who is crazy for Halloween! Ask them to host a show for you and go all out on the Halloween theme.

November – 12 days of Thanksgiving – You need 12 hostesses to take your catalog to their Thanksgiving festivities and get a minimum of $30 in orders for you. They must be turned in by November 30th to qualify for hostess rewards. 12 small prizes are given to each of the participants, ranging in monetary value, pulled at random.

December
– Ask a service worker you frequent during the year (salon owner, nail technician, pet groomer, etc.) to host a show for you this month in lieu of the usual gift card you give them and reward them handsomely with your hostess rewards.
